Deployment Help
Hello,
I have some questions about imaging in Windows Vista.
First off, I have a volume license copy of Windows Vista Business Edition
Upgrade, so my DVD is not bootable. Next I have used Windows SIM a little
bit to become familiar with creating an XML answer file.
Here are my questions:
Does the XML answer file have to have a specific name in order to be
recognized when using imagex?
What is the replacement for mini setup?
How can I tell the XML file that I want the mini setup replacement to prompt
me to name each computer imaged?
I know deployment services exist that will allow me to image multiple
computers at one time, but where do I install them and how can I find out how
to use them?
When making a Windows Vista image do I do the following:
Install and configure Windows Vista on the master image computer.
Install and configure all the hardware on the master image computer.
Install and configure all needed software on the master image computer.
Sysprep the master image computer.
Capture and save the image.
Next how would I then deploy that image to multiple computers at one time?
Windows imaging using imagex and Winpe seems easy enough, but a third party
product like Symantec Ghost seems easier. Does Microsoft plan on releasing a
GUI of Winpe and imagex?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
