Reverting back to XP?

I bought a new laptop in December with XP Home, and have registered
for the express upgrade to Vista Home Basic.

I plan to make a full image backup of my hard drive before actually
doing the upgrade. If, after trying Vista, I decide I don't like
it, and restore the XP image, will I have XP authentication
problems, or will it work as before?

No there shouldn't be any issues when restoring an image on the same system.
