64 bit not 32 bit

I downloaded Vista Home Premium on line. I have a AMD athlon 64x2 Dual Core
Processer 4400+ 2.20 GHz. As I loaded Vista it did not ask if I wanted 32-bit
or 64-bit , I wanted 64-bit and it put on 32-bit. How can I correct this
problem and end up with 64-bit on my computer? Thank You Al Cassell

The 64 bit version would be a separate download than the 32 bit version.
That is why the install didn't ask you what version to install.

It won't ask .... the 32-bit and 64-bit versions are separate DVDs (or
downloads). Only Ultimate comes with both DVDs, and as far as I know,
the 64-bit version is not available for download at all. What you have
to do now is order a 64-bit DVD to be physically sent to you, and I
think that there is a shipping charge also, although the DVD itself is
technically free.

Kind of sucks; no reason why the 64-bit version should not be
downloadable. It's the product key, not the media, that provides the
security.

Plus the 64-bit version will take advantage of the many general purpose
registers that the 32-bit version won't, along with the extended
instruction set. But then this presents an enigma... will the 32-bit
games work on a 64-bit os?
