Easy Transfer error

Easy Transfer gives an error when scanning my old computer for files and
settings to transfer. The old computer is running Windows XP professional
with all the latest service packs, updates, etc. I transferred Easy Transfer
to it by burning it to a CD since there was a problem trying to install Easy
Transfer to it over the network. I've tried to set up Easy Transfer to do
the transfer over the network, but got an error when scanning the old
computer for files and settings to transfer. I then tried by telling it I
would transfer the files on a CD and got the same error. I got the same
error regardless of whether telling it I want to transfer the files for all
users or telling it I will select the files to transfer myself. Ideas?
