another hassle

now i can't use outlook or save files in word; says i don't have
authorization. what the H is that all about?

Do you have your files on a second hard drive, second partition or something
like that?

Vista NTFS is different from XP NTFS and you can get into weird stuff if you
use a second USB drive that was not in the system during the vista install
(which converts all NTFS drives while installing.)

If that is the case, dump your stuff off the drive, format from Vista and
COPY back (don't move)
