Re: Reinstalling Windows XP after Vista
The problem is that this is a notebook and it should be an ATA drive
this is the model:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-64243

and in Vista it seems it says it is an ATA drive. How can I know exactly
what sort fo drive do I have?

Re: Reinstalling Windows XP after Vista
How are you trying to install? Are you using F11 to get to your system
recovery program or a Windows XP CD or a recovery CD?

Re: Reinstalling Windows XP after Vista
Thank ytou very much, I'll try to find drivers for the HD... Does the Windows
Xp installer accepts them from a CD drive? OR USB key? Cause my notebook
doesn't have a floppy disk

Re: Reinstalling Windows XP after Vista
No. They must be from a floppy, however if your BIOS supports it, you can
use a USB floppy.

Re: Reinstalling Windows XP after Vista
Hi,

XP setup doesn't allow for anything other than a floppy. Vista does. Part of
the problem is the nature of how NTFS is implemented in Vista, there are
subtle changes that make for problems if you try to go back to XP. What you
will need to do is remove the existing system partition and create a new one
from the free space before you will be able to reinstall XP. Doing this will
cause the loss of all data on the volume, so be sure to copy off anything
that you deem to be irreplaceable.

If XP setup won't recognize the drive, you may need to turn to a third party
product to resolve this. Possibly too you may be able to boot from a USB
floppy, but that requires support from the system BIOS (check with the
vendor for the feasibility of this).

Re: Reinstalling Windows XP after Vista
Here, drivers install from a floppy or a CD/DVD.
