Activation error code 0x8007232B
Hi

I am getting a "DNS name does not exist" when I try activate my MSDN copy of
Vista - business edition.

Internet access is working fine, and I have tried this for the last 5 days.

Any ideas?

Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

Are you using a KMS (volume) key? You need an activation server if so, and
at least 25 machines to activate. Otherwise, for volume licenses you should
be using a MAK key.

Re: Activation error code 0x8007232B

It seems to be a fairly common error that springs up on a number of
different Vista installs, and will potentially happen on Server 2008
installs too.

I did a write-up about the nature of the problem at
www.vistaactivation.info if you want to check it out.

Basically your two options are to change your key or activate by phone.

Re: Activation error code 0x8007232B

First thing....you are using KMS for activation.
So you can do one the following below to fix your problem.

1) Configure a computer that will host the KMS service and then publish
the settings for the DNS.

2) Change your product key to MAK and then use this MAK key to activate
Windows.
