Dave,
Click the Windows Start button, then open the Control Panel. On the
left-hand side of the Control Panel, click on Classic View. Open User
Accounts and click on Turn User Account Control(UAC) on or off. In the
window that opens, uncheck the box to turn UAC off and click OK. You'll be
prompted to restart your computer, do so. After reboot, you may get a
warning but you can disable it.
What it does is change the system security level to be on par with Windows
XP, that's about it.
That box may be ask for permission to continue see if Turing it off will
help.
