RE: what you hear
I don't remember the order anymore, so you may have to do Part 2 first if it
doesn't work the first time.
Part 1:
Right Click on the sound icon in the taskbar (far right of taskbar) and
click on recording devices. In the list should be Stereo Mix, highlight and
click on properties.
At the bottom of the general tab is a pull-down menu, pick 'Use this device
(enable).
Part 2:
Control Panel > RealTek HD Audio Manager
In the upper, right corner click on 'Device advanced setting'
In the pop-up window pick 'Separate all input jacks as independent input
devices'
The window will reset and then Stereo Mix should be there.
