Install Vista HP Full Retail as an upgrade or clean install?
Hello:
As I become more familiar with Vista on one of my pcs, I'm thinking of
buying the full retail version of HP for my other pc, but I think I want to
install it as an upgrade in order to preserve my current RAID0 partitions and
access to the other 5 hard drives containing recorded tv programs without
having DRM problems. I want the full retail version so that I can change
components as I desire without having to keep purchasing Vista if I change
motherboards, cpus, etc. I would rather do a clean install to my current
RAID0 O.S. partition by just deleting the current O.S. partition and then
building a new one to install Vista on, but am afraid I would have problems
accessing all the hard drives and having DRM problems with some or all of the
recorded tv programs. My questions are: (1)If I do a clean install would I
have any problems installing it to the newly created empty RAID0 partition?
(2)Would Vista recognize and allow use of the other 2 RAID0 partitions on the
RAID0 drives as well as the other 5 hard drives(4 SATA II, 1 IDE) without DRM
problems? (3) If a clean install won't work, is an upgrade install from a
full retail version possible and will that work? If I sound confused, I am
LOL. I actually am quite satisfied with MCE2005 but since I will need to buy
a new O.S. for future pc upgrades anyway I thought I might as well buy Vista
now. (Quad core coming soon!)
