Installing Vista
Hi,

I have a clean build Core 2 Duo 6550, 2GB RAM and 320GB HDD. I tried
installing MCE on it but it crashed halfway. I created 3 partitions and now
when I try and install an XP version I cannot see anything but a 100GB C:
partition.

Now, when I try and install Vista Home Prem x86, it gets as far as selecting
the partion to install onto and it cannot find a partition and tells me know
drive(driver?) is able to be located.

Is there anyone out there that can a) help me recover my other 200GB and b)
help me get this Vista installed?

After all, whats a pc worth if I can't use it?

Cheers

unfortunately, Vista doesn't give you the option to F6 install SATA Drivers.

AsRock Conroe 1333 D677 Motherboard
Intel Core2Duo E6550 4MB Cache 1333MHZ
2GB DDR2 RAM
320GB Maxtor SATA 8MB Cache
NVIDIA 7200 512MB TURBO CACHE GE-FORCE PCI EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD
20x Dual Layer CD/DVD
NO FLOPPY

this is the window your looking for........see at the lower left it says
install drivers....
at which point you insert either Floppy/CD/DVD with the SATA drivers and
Vista will then ask which ones

the problem I'm having is that it keeps telling me that it can't find any
compatible drivers when I get to this point

Re: Installing Vista
Some MOBO require you to "expand" the SATA drivers from their CD in order
for Vista to see all of the installation files...especially the .inf files

so are you saying that I need to copy the files from the mobo cd and burn
back onto another disk?
