Dual Boot XP Pro & Vista 64-bit
I have just built a new computer, and I'm uncertain where to start with OS
installation. I want to have an XP-Pro SP2 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit
dual boot to 2 SATA HDs. Which OS do I install 1st so that I'll have a menu
choice of OS when I turn on the computer?

If I install XP first to the first HD, do I need to boot to the Vista DVD to
install it? Or can I install Vista to the 2nd HD from inside XP?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hi,

Install XP first (always oldest to newest). Boot the x64 disk to install, as
it has to be a clean install anyways.

Re: Dual Boot XP Pro & Vista 64-bit
Obviously you have a 64 bit CPU. Definitely you are always best advised to
install the older Windows OS first, and in this case that's XP. It could
be done the other way around, but your chance for problems is considerably
more on a dual boot so do install XP first--beside you now have the option.
Then simply pop in the Vista DVD and run setup for Vista on the XP desktop
and your drive letters won't change as dictated by the bios.

Good luck,
