Re: Vista Display issues with Intel 915 graphics card
Hi,

Any updates on my Video/Graphics Card driver update?

Since, i have waited for nearly 1.3 months without proper graphics
display.

I am getting a ugly screen (streched virtically), which i change my graphics
resolution to 1024x768. However, 800x600 works ok.

FYI, my graphics card supports 1024x768, u can read my laptop hardward list
in the following messages.

Please help.....

Regards,
Praveen

Re: Vista Display issues with Intel 915 graphics card
Your graphics "card" does not have the required functionality in its
hardware design to be supported in Vista:

Here is a link that discuses the issue:

Not to be a wet blanket, but has anyone mentioned that your laptop appears
to be a bit old and lacking in resources, such as RAM?
I believe MS recommends a minimum of 512 Megabytes of memory and you have
256? Is it possible that your video chip uses some of the main memory,
making higher resolutions impossible?
Your source for Vista drivers is the laptop maker (Acer) first, then the
video chip supplier (Intel). Have you contacted those parties for drivers,
or to ask if they intend to supply new drivers?
Looking on the Intel site:

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-009479.htm

reveals no Vista drivers for your 82852.

Re: Vista Display issues with Intel 915 graphics card
Thanks,

However, going thorugh the link, i found that my graphics chipset is
supported for windows vista by INTEL!

Here is the text from the link:

Q3: Is Intel providing support for WDDM drivers for Intel Graphics Media
Accelerator 900 (Intel GMA 900) on Intel« 915 Express chipset-based
platforms?
A: Intel will provide support for WDDM drivers beginning with the Intel« 945
Express chipset family and beyond.

Windows Vista is supported on the Intel« 845G, 865G, 915G Express desktop
chipsets and 852/855GM mobile chipsets running XP drivers for Intel
graphics. Windows Vista will install on these platforms, but advanced
features such as Windows Aero will not be enabled as Vista drivers using
WDDM are required for Windows Aero.

You can see that 852/855 mobile chipset is supported

Rgs,
Praveen

OK, but unfortunately the extra RAM doesn't solve your lack of video driver
issue with the Intel 915 model 82852 chip.
If Acer and/or Intel don't provide a Vista driver, you're stuck with
whatever comes in Vista. Note Q5 and Q6 in the link supplied in JW's
response.

Re: Vista Display issues with Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME graphics card
I guess their is some confusing here... sorry thats my mistake...

My laptop graphics card is

Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation -
XDDM) and 64MB Shared Memory

and not 915 series.... as mentioned earlier..

Rgs,
Praveen

Same issue. See this:

No mention of Vista drivers.

You need to ask Intel.
