Vista and Dell Dimen.4700 Soundmax drivers

Hello,
I have a dell dimension 4700 with a soundmax audio card. I found lastnight
while installing vista that there is a conflict between vista and the current
driver for the audio card. After talking with a microsoft rep, and over an
hour on the phone, that the driver was indeed stopping the computer from
shutting down...i would hit shutdown, and it would just reboot. I would get a
message saying it had recovered from a serious error and that it is described
as a bluescreen error. My question is, does anyone a) know if soundmax or
dell are working on new drivers for vista, b) what can i do if this new
driver doesnt come out. The temporary fix is to disable the sound card before
i try to shut down...this becomes arduous and annoying however.
