What is the current status of Windows Mobile Device Center?
I installed VISTA Ultimate back at the first of November when it came out.
There was no Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) on the DVD image so I
downloaded and installed Beta 3 WMDC from Microsoft downloads. It sort of
works but seems to have a lot of problems:
Dell and HP devices cannot be upgraded with a ROM upgrade. The upgrade
starts and get far enough to kill all the device content and then dies. I
was able to get the ROM upgrades to work fine on the same computer with a
dual boot back to XP Pro.
Microsoft Trips and Streets fails to install Pocket Streets complaining that
it cannot find active Sync.
I have also had fairly inconsistent results trying to sync my Dell and HP
Windows Mobile 5 devices.
As far as I can determine even though I have gotten a number of patches from
Windows Update and some Ultimate Extras I have not gotten an update to WMDC.
Do I need to expressly uninstall the WMDC Beta 3 and go back to Windows
Update to get the released version of WMDC?
The build number of my WMDC is 6.0.6526, does anyone have a new build
installed?
