Right you are!
My old A7N8X runs great with Vista, so no need for NVIDIA "support".
NVIDIA is shafting 5000-series video card users as it stands now. Although
most 5000 cards support Aero just fine (my FX5500 included), the Vista
drivers NVIDIA has for download *do not support* anything lower than the
6000-series. Talk about forces obsolescence!
Luckily, Vista Ultimate comes with drivers that make the FX5500 work, so I'm
good for now.
I'm thinking of switching to ATI next time around, just because of the
driver issue. Guess I'll have to go get educated on the ATI chipsets that
are comparable to the NVIDIA 7300 GT or 7600 GS.
