Vista no longer recognises Memup USB 2.0 hard-drive
I recently upgraded my PC from XP to Vista Business.
At first, it recognised fine my Memup external USB hard-drive.
But now, after a week or so, the USB hard-drive is no longer visible in "My
Computer".
It shows up as working in Device Manager, and the driver is the most recent
available.
Any suggestions please?

Re: Vista no longer recognises Memup USB 2.0 hard-drive
Have you tried unplugging and plugging it back in?

Yes, several times. When I unplug, I get the "hardware removed" dong, and
the device disappears from Device Manager. When I plug it in, I get the "new
hardware connected" chime, and the device reappears in Device Manager. But
it never shows up in "My Computer".

Ric,
Consider the following:
Here is a new USB fix that just came out:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...en-us%3b936003
I don't know whether this fix is applicable to your situation, but you never
know until you try it.

Re: Vista no longer recognises Memup USB 2.0 hard-drive
If you run the Disk Management tool, what does it tell you about the drive?
You can either find it in Computer Management or just run "diskmgmt.msc".

I have managed to fix this now with Disk Management tool. The USB drive
letter had gone missing, meaning that "Computer" could no longer see it. I
have had to reformat the USB drive in order to reinstate the missing drive
letter.
It remains a mystery why it suddenly went missing in the first place...

Re: Vista no longer recognises Memup USB 2.0 hard-drive
Difficult to say but I'm glad you did get it sorted out.
