problem with vista memory
I have Windows Vista ultimate 32-bit Edition, and it says it supports 4GB
of RAM. I have only 4GB installed, and yet the computer says I only have
2GB. On the support page, there is an entry about why Vista may show less
RAM if all 4GB are installed, but why does it not recognize at list 3.5GB.
My board is asus commando and I have enabled PAE and I have enabled memory
remapping what else do I need to do?

Re: problem with vista memory
Does your BIOS say you have 4GB installed?
What kind and number of memory Dimms do you have?
If you are using DDR2 dimms are they a matched pair or matched pairs?
Is your BIOS up to date.

The 3.5GB RAM is a rough ballpark, and is highly dependant on system
configuration.

My motherboard wants around 550MB for itself (if my reading is correct,
I haven't yet tested), and each of my video cards take a full 512MB as
well, meaning that at most, I'll get ~2.5GB available.

I'll upgrade one of these days just to find out, x64 is on the roadmap
too once I can acquire the media.

Re: problem with vista memory
After I enabled memory remapping my bios recognized 4 GB of RAM
I am using 4 matching dimms that came in to 2 kits with the same model
And I have updated my bios
My graphics card only uses 254 MB
So I don’t see how am I losing 2 GB
When I check my parameters with Everest it recognizes 2 GB of memory
But it shows the 4 dimms each has 1 GB it also has a category called swap
space and it looks like its showing my memory correctly
