ACPI required for HT
Check the BIOS settings for ACPI...are they on? acpi subcomponents are
required....

Did you fdisk and reformat the old disk in the new machine before trying to
install?
Do you have the latest BIOS for your MOBO?
I had no trouble installing Vista RC1 or RC2 on a HT system after doing the
above.

Yes, the only ACPI component in my BIOS is set to S1&S3, so it is enabled.
