Thinkpad T43 - no audio

Installed Vista Ultimate on Thinkpad T43. Install went smooth. No drivers
installed for audio or biometric. Right clicked on audio, said to update,
Vista updated driver. However, though no errors noted in device mgr, sound
non-functional. Sound tests fail consistently every time. Anyone have any
ideas?

Anyone? I could use some help. No solution thus far from anywhere.
