USB Hell
I have a number of USB devices installed, some more than once it seems, and
every time I boot, log on, log off or switch users, I get a series of
attempts (5 in all) to install the mouse and accompanying USB Bluetooth Hub,
the keyboard, and an "unknown device" drivers... I cancel the dialogs, and
the devices work properly... The BIOS is current, as is the chipset... (see
more detail below)...

I have the current Intellipoint and Intellitype software installed and they
work mostly, but it's that installation that seemed to make my USB hardware
go flakey... I've tried uninstalling the software... Intellitype won't
uninstall...

I've tried deleting all the devices... they come back on restart... or just
fail completely and I wind up having to do a system restore...

Anyone got any idea of what's going on with Vista and USB or suggestions as
to what the problem might be ?

let the system install the USB devices.

It sounds like a hub might be causing it. Disconnect all devices except
mouse and keyboard, do a system restore, and then try plugging them back in
one by one using the ports integrated on the box.

Well... maybe this is fixed... what did it was updating the motherboard
chipset drivers (again) from Intel and manually "reinstalling the drivers"
for each device searching windows\system32 and all it's subfolders for the
drivers... I had to do that for each user on the system... it's stable
now... we'll see if it stays that way...

USB Hell
The main problem is that you have an Intel chipset / motherboard. Look on line at reviews and you will see what I am about to tell you in a few words...
Get another board!

The Intel boards and chipsets are problematic and have caused 'bad cap' problems and basically, the boards are unstable and will not last a long time.

Go with gigabyte for the price in comparison. They are much better.
