Secondary Master ATAPI incompatible
I just installed Vista RC1 to a retired computer for testing purposes. At
the same time I decided to swap DVD drives between the 2 machines. The
switch worked fine for the newer (still XP) machine, but for the vista
machine I get the message given in the subject line on boot. I can press F1
to continue and the machine boots up and windows loads fine. And the DVD
player plays and records fine. The onoy problem is that I keep getting the
error message at each hard boot and need to press F1 to continue.

I would of course like to get rid of the annoying boot error message. I
have tried changing the BIOS settings for the secondary master. The only
BIOS setting that it likes is DVD-ROM, and that's what comes up if I select
AUTO.

My DVD drive in the machine in question is NEC ND-3530A. It was a slave on
the computer from which it was scavanged and I changed the jumper to make it
a master on the vista machine.
