IntelliPoint 6.1 + Vista = Erratic Scrolling?
I recently installed:

Vista IntelliPoint 6.1 (6.10.156.0) ... for my
Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 ....... on
Windows Vista RTM

The problem I'm having is that vertical scrolling seems messed up. In order
to trigger the OS into scrolling, it requires me to scroll more than I should
need to.

That being said, an example is that if I just scroll the wheel slowly, the
OS never recognizes it as a scroll, and nothing happens. Expected behavior
would be for the system to recognize a slow scroll (just like prior
IntelliPoint releases)

Also, I cannot get the scroll speed and acceleration settings to work the
way I would like them to, either. It's strange; it seems like different
applications scroll at different rates and accelerations; expected behavior
would be that the settings work regardless of which application is running
(just like prior IntelliPoint releases) ... and no I don't have any
application-specific settings.

Am I alone in noticing this erratic vertical scrolling with the latest
release?

PS: Haven't tested horizontal scrolling at all yet.

RE: IntelliPoint 6.1 + Vista = Erratic Scrolling?
I'm having the same problem. What a buggy release!

I found that I can temporarily correct the problem by killing ipoint.exe
from task manager and then restarting it by opening the mouse properties
(which spawns ipoint.exe). Oh, by the way, if you put the computer to sleep
and wake up again, scrolling will be screwed up again.

This, combined with the still-not-fixed bug of the wireless receiver 3.0A
models preventing the display from going to sleep or screensaver activating,
is extremely disappointing and disturbing considering that this is Microsoft
hardware on a Microsoft operating system.

RE: IntelliPoint 6.1 + Vista = Erratic Scrolling?
My personal solution has been to:
- Go into Device Manager
- Mice and other pointing devices
- Uninstall the driver (CHECK to delete driver software)
- Action->Scan for hardware changes

For me, since I had the beta Intellipoint drivers running before these final
version drivers, it proceeded to install:

Microsoft USB Wireless Mouse (IntelliPoint)
6/30/2006
6.1.246.0
Digital Signer: microsoft windows hardware compatibility publisher

With these 6.1.246.0 drivers, I appear to not have the scrolling issue,
while at the same time I CAN use the 6.10.156.0 IntelliPoint software
settings.

This leads me to believe the problem is in the drivers (or driver settings)
that get installed alongside 6.10.156.0 software... ie: The problem is not
with the software, it's with the drivers.

I hope this makes sense, and helps SOMEBODY. In the meantime, Microsoft,
can you work to fix this problem? You can contact me for more information.

RE: IntelliPoint 6.1 + Vista = Erratic Scrolling?
Turn off the accelerated scrolling option.

By default intellipont has scrolling acceleration enabled. ie. the faster
you scroll the wheel the quicker it moves the page down. Rather than by 3
lines like before.

RE: IntelliPoint 6.1 + Vista = Erratic Scrolling?
I had this same problem with my Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000 on Vista
Ultimate x64. It finally allowed me to use all the buttons, but the
scrolling was horrible no matter what setting I chose. I finally uninstalled
it and now at least scrolling works as it should.

RE: IntelliPoint 6.1 + Vista = Erratic Scrolling?
I'm trying like the devil to install the 8000 mouse with bluetooth... Vista
Enterprise RTM won't recognize the USB radio... no drivers... so testing with
the latest Intellipoint isn't happening...

Anyone got any thoughts on where the bluetooth drivers are ? or how to
trick Vista into using a widcomm driver or something ??

thanks... t
