NVidea driver problem with RC2

I installed Vista RC2 onto a new computer with NVidea 7600 GS card. My
monitor is a 19" widescreen with 1440 X900 resolution. The Nvidia drivers,
both the ones on nvidia's site now and the ones installed by Vista do no pick
up the correct resoltuion for the monitor and I haven't been able to fix it
no matter what. As a result, the display is fuzzy and distorted. (I have a
much better picture on an old Dell with a Nvidia MX4 card that isn't even
officially supported by Vista, though I'm not using the wide screen monitor
on that computer.

Second, when I installed the drivers from NVidia, it did not install the
extra NVidea tools that are usually installed with the card. Info on the
NVidia download page indicated they were included and it was a big download.

Does anyone have any help or advice for me?

(I have the same card, but different resolution --1680x1050)
It is a known issue that the beta nVidia driver does NOT support 1440x900, and sadly the full nVidia
tools are also missing.
There is a program called power strip that can give you 1440x900, but I, personally have not used
it.
EVGA also has a free program called RezChanger that may solve your problem.

I tried powerstrip and couldn't get it to enable the correct resolution
either. Maybe I don't know how to use it properly, but I could never change
the resolution to what it should have been. I wrote the new driver for the
monitor, but NVidia just won't pick up the new, correct info. The old info
was correct anyway. I wonder if they will fix the problem. They should
pick up the resolution from the plug and play monitor and apply it, even if
it isn't one of the default resolutions...or at least that is what NVidia
claims on their site. I'm wondering how this computer can be sold as Vista
Premium ready when it won't support the monitor sent with the computer.

NVidia's 96.33 drivers give me 1440X900 here, using a Samsung 19"
widescreen LCD, but later drivers do not. Don't expect full function,
such as extra tools, until Vista has been released for home use.

Your problem is a common one with many devices in the sense that you won't
have all the features until the drivers get out of BETA mode....it's tough
waiting though....we all wish there was a simple fix but unfortunately
you're at the mercy of the vendors releasing the proper drivers with full
functionality.

Is there any way to get the older drivers now that a newer one is released?
Do you know a site that still lists the 96.33? Thanks!

Actually I answered my own question by searching with google. Surprisingly
the NVidia site came up with the older drivers listed. But they say they are
for RC1 and I now have RC2. Wonder if they would still work?

There IS an RC2 Beta driver on their site.

Yes, but the new driver will not set the correct resolution for my monitor
and thus the graphics are fuzzy...unacceptably so. An earlier responder said
he got the correct resoltuion with the older driver but not the newer one.

I have the same setup as you.
I removed the new NVidia drivers and installed the ones on the disc for XP.
Then updated with windows update and then I had the 1440X900 settings.
No tools but my screen works for now
