RE: SATA DVD-RW Problems with Vista RTM x64
I originally thought that the cause of this problem was with either the
JMicron controller and/or driver.

So I tried to fix this problem with a SIIG PCIe SATA II controller which
Vista RTM x64 recognized and loaded a driver for.

Vista still does not recognize my SATA DVD-RW drive (either the Plextor or
Samsung) connected to the SIIG SATA II controller as a writeable device.

I can only conclude that the Microsoft Vista RTM x64 CD/DVD driver cannot
correctlly identify and utilize a SATA DVD-RW device.

Is there anyone out there successfully writing to their SATA DVD-RW drives
from Vista RTM x64?

Re: SATA DVD-RW Problems with Vista RTM x64
I have been having the same problems with an external SATAII drive using the
the SIIG ExpressCard, using the MS drivers and the SIIG drivers for Vista.
It worked fine with XP then the drives just disappeared after I upgraded to
Vista. I have posted this issue to the Vista General fourm and on SIIG and
still have not gotten a fix.

I found that a tweak of my IDE settings in the BIOS took care of the problem
instantly. Only took a couple of days to get to that point!
