Enabling/disabling device on hardware profile
Just upgraded my Laptop from XP to Vista and lost some important
functionality: In XP I could enable/disable devices based on the hardware
profile.
I used this for the WiFi adaptor. When the machine is docked the WiFi
adaptor was disabled and it used the docking ports 1GB network adaptor. On
un-docking it, it was enabled, so that I could roam the office and still have
connectivity (albeit at a WiFi speed).
In Vista, I either have to have the WiFi ALWAYS enabled, or NEVER enabled.
ALWAYS causes problems with two connections simultaneously - Vista gets
itself confused and does not necessarily use the fast connection (ie 1GB).
NEVER is no good - I cannot access the network.
So I now, have to manually enable/disable the device when I undock/dock the
laptop...
