Double Clicking Mouse Changes Size of Window

Has anyone experienced this problem with a synaptics pointing device? It
seems randomly that when I double click the window expands or shrinks instead
of doing what the double click should do (such as grabbing a scroll bar). I
can't find a setting to change to fix this problem.
