I have a stupid question
I have a Lexmark X1200 printer. I just recently (This morning) got a
new computer with Vista on it. The problem is, when I plugged the USB
cable into the Vista machine, it saw that there was new hardware,
asked me to put the disk that I got with the printer into the drive
and tried to install the drivers. However, since those drivers are XP
drivers, they didn't install. So I went to the lexmark website and
downloaded the Vista drivers. BUT, the install program for the new
drivers requires me to uninstall the older drivers that didn't
completely uninstall. Every time it tries to do that, it locks up
explorer and doesn't uninstall....
So, I have the Vista drivers, but I can't put them onto the system
until the old drivers are gone and I can't get rid of the old drivers
because the uninstall process locks the computer up. Any ideas around
this?
P.S. - what's up with this Google Gadget clone that pops up on the
right side of my system? It's ugly and isn't anywhere nears as slick
as Google's desktop gadgets!

RE: I have a stupid question
furby,
The following link tells you how to remove printer drivers:
http://207.46.196.114/windowsserver/....mspx?mfr=true
The post is for WinXP, but Vista procedure is the same.
I don't know about the google stuff, but I'd imagine that you can uninstall
that stuff. Take a look in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to see
whether it there to remove.
Cheers,
