The pipe state is invalid

Hi,

When I try and manage my hardware devices I get this error:

The pipe state is invalid.

This has only been happening recently though I don't know what I had been
doing before it stopped working.

I have the same error message and cannot run applications - do you have any
fix for this?

I had the same problem start occuring when I connected my box to a LCD TV that I was going to use as a monitor. Once I got the monitor picture on the TV (whole nother story - you have to adjust low frequency level) the pipe state invalid message started to appear and I could not do anything with my computer - not even save files in MS word, let alone download anything from the web. Once I put the old CRT monitor back on presto no problem.
