Vista Prem 64B does not see my HD camera
I recently purchased a Sony Z5U HD camera and tried connecting it to my
Vista Premium 64 bit notebook. Windows does not "bong" and recognize
anything is connected. If I plug in an older camera, it works fine as it
should, so I know the firewire connection is working correctly. Also, I
plug in the same new camera to an XP tower, and it works great. I
contacted Sony and they said Microsoft did not add 64 bit codecs for HDV
cameras in Vista 64 and I should downgrade the OS to 32 bit, which
sounds extreme. I've googled for 64 bit codecs, and all I can find
relates to playing a variety of video file types in Windows Media
Player, which sounds CLOSE, but not specific enough that I know it would
fix my problem. Are there any codecs I can install to allow my HDV
camera to be recognized by my Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS?
