Hi, new user to vista (and this forum!) and I have a strange problem with the Realtek RTL8191 SE Wireless LAN 802.11N PCI-E NIC...
Wireless wasn't working at first, so downloaded latest driver from Realtek site which got it working again, but after the Laptop has been shutdown, the driver doesn't work with ERROR 31, I can re-install the new driver again, and it works, but after shutdown I have the same problem. Every day I have to reinstall the latest driver, which is starting to get annoying!
Before applying the new driver, the file is listed as
rtl8192xp.sys (version 1677.1.709.2009 date 07-09-2009)
and after the install it's listed as rtl8192se.sys (version 1076.1.0320.2009 date 20/03/2009)
I disabled the auto-check & install of new drivers from Windows update, but it doesn't seem to be related to this.
I found 2 REALTEK folders under C:\Program Files, (Realtek WIRELESS LAN Driver & Realtek WLAN Driver) I deleted the one relating to the not working driver, but after a restart, the folder re-appears again!
I have a Toshiba Satellite U500-119, Vista Home Premium edition, SP1, but it's installed in french

here is the error output when I have the warning sign next to the driver, in case it helps:

The fact it changes from an XP file to SE.. strange no? but probably doesn't matter....
MAIN QUESTION:
How can I delete the old/interfering driver so that the working one will stay assigned to the device after a shutdown?
any ideas wouold be welcome!
