Re: USB ports stopped working after Windows updates
I had a similar problem after this update in that my fingerprint reader stopped working; I use it for so many websites now that it was a pain.
I tried looking for the device/driver to rollback but couldnt find it. Looking for a solution I found people on this site having problems with their USBs so I went back to look at the USB drivers and there it was, rolled it back and alls well. (Not sure if I had USB probs as well but wasnt gonna waste more time proving the point).
So to recap, what solved my problem was:
Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > USB controllers
You should see the 'HX2LP' driver listed there:
Rclick > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver
Voila. Well it worked for me. It looks like it rolled back to a non-specific USB device but it might have just removed it, (not sure how many were there before I hit the button).
Hope this helps, cheers.
