HP and webcam
I saw this post before, but cannot find it again, was hoping there was a
solution
I have an HPdv9205, with a built-in webcam. Most of the time I cannot
access it all the time. I am sure it is not a hardware problem, since it
does function. Most likely a software conflict, something is grabbing it and
knocking it out.
HP is aware of the problem, and says the drivers are at XP level, and at some
point new drivers will be released, the timing depends on the demand. So
much for being Vista compatible.
Has anyone come up with a work around for this problem.

Re: HP and webcam
My HP dv9288 came with vista drivers pre-installed, they are also on HP
website .co.uk.

Re: HP and webcam
Thanks for the tip, found the driver and installed it. It was not on the
Canadian site.

Re: HP and webcam
I have an HP dv9074cl with a webcam built-in. The computer came with XP but
HP offered a free upgrade to Vista. On the utilities disk was a so-called
vista driver for the webcam. As it turned out this was more than just a
driver. It actually upgraded the firmware in the webcam. The webcam now
works in Vista but only with Windows messenger. I have a dual-boot with XP
and Vista because there is still so much hardware and software that doesn't
work with Vista. Well, with the new firmware the webcam will no longer work
with XP. I can't find anyone intelligent enough at HP to even understand the
problem, let alone fix it. I'd like to get the old firmware back, but can't
find it.
