Anyone use HIS PCI Video Cards?
My GeForce 5200 is my PCs 'weaklink; in Vista Experience terms. Only 128mb
on board mem.

So I have seen the HIS X1550 PCI card which has 256mb on board memory.

Anyone have this card? Thoughts? Concerns?

Vista WILL let me unplug the old and plug in a new video card without going
thru re-activations, right?

Tks

It should. I use a 5200 with 128Mb, and it works just fine. I am not a
gamer.

I am not a gamer either ... I just want to wring the most out of my PC that
I can....it's 9yo or thereabouts with SOME upgraded componentry.....runs
Vista fine, but 2.5 on Windows Experience based on video cards capability

2.0 for video here, and full Aero - with possible exception of slide
show fading (which I don't use). The screen writes are about as quick
as I will even need them - for browsing, a financial program, word
processing, image display, etc.

It is doubtful, from the knowledgeable folks I have talked with, that
upgrading video memory will be of value for better rendering in Vista.
Save your bucks for a PCI-E-video capable PC in the future, as AGP is
phasing out.
