Check in Control Panel (Classic View) > Mouse. Depending on the touchpad
driver you have, sometimes there will be an On/Off switch to enable the
touchpad function. There may also be a switch to disable the touchpad
function when a USB mouse is detected, which I think is a function of
IntelliPoint from Microsoft. Do you have the IntelliPoint 6.1 for Windows
Vista software installed for your Optical Mouse 3000?

Re: deactivating touch pad on laptop when using wireless mouse
Hi dean-dean!

I looked in the control panel and under mouse but there is no button to
click on for it and when I take out and replace the wireless mouse, nothing
pops up asking if I want to switch off the touchpad and I don't know what
program is installed that lets me use the mouse because when I switched to
vista, i believe that the previous program was deinstall and a new one
replaced it. I looked for Intellipoint....and I got nothing.

Re: deactivating touch pad on laptop when using wireless mouse
Go here to download and install the IntelliPoint 6.1 for Windows Vista
software for your Optical Mouse 3000:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...indows%20Vista

There won't probably be anything popping up to ask if you want to turn off
the touchpad. You'll have to set things up in Control Panel >Mouse, if the
options are there. Installing the above might help. Also look in Control
Panel (Classic View)>Device Manager, and expand the "Mice and other pointing
devices" category, and look at the names of the devices listed. Tell me
what you see. If one says PS/2 Mouse, your software for your touchpad isn't
probably installed either, and you're only using a generic driver, which
won't give you many choices in Control Panel >Mouse. You may have to get a
Vista driver for your touchpad, too.
