Problems adding TCP/IP printers in Vista
*Hi*
*Just thought i'd post my experience here, i had a problem installing
my HP LaserJet 4000TN as a TCP/IP printer, i would use the wizard and
define the IP address as usual, then it would say contacting printer,
which would then spit out an HP diagnostic page, and the printer's LCD
screen said "87 00FB EIO 2 ERROR".*
*So, after much messing around (including deleting the ports in the
registry which were mounting up!), i booted up my XP laptop, which i
might add is proving to be invaluable to have since using vista!! I
tried adding the printer in there, and straight away noticed that in the
add printer wizard, as you complete the IP address, in the box below
marked "Port name", it has duplicated the IP address but has prefixed it
with "IP_". So, back to my vista, prefixed the Port name box with "IP_",
and surprise surprise it worked fine, detecting and installing the
printer straight away.*
*If anyone else is having similar problems perhaps you could add your
findings here, at least so i know i'm not barking up the wrong tree if
nothing else!!*
