Is holding down power sw better than pulling plug?

If for whatever reason, Vista won't shut down normally, does holding down the
power switch have safety advantages over just pulling the plug? Or does
Vista see both as identical?

Using the power switch is safer than pulling the plug. You should only pull
the plug after the computer has powered off or as an absolutely last resort.
