Hi,
I installed Vista Business x64 on a HP NW8440 notebook. Everything
worked fine (including sound and Windows Media Player) until installing
an advised driver update for the Wireless card. After that, Wireless
started to work and sound (including WMP playback of anything that has
sound, including video) was lost. WMP complains with a access denied
error.
Everything looks ok in device manager on the sound and network
components. After trying to roll back and even delete the installed
Intel/Broadcom driver using PnPUtil with no result, I have downloaded
latest drivers from Soundmax, HP and Intel/Broadcom and tried to roll
forward with no result. Filed a case with HP who couldn't help.
Looking for someone who knows more about the sound channel in Vista and
how to troubleshoot this appearant conflict.
Cheers, Niklas
