The recovery disc(s) will restore the drive to the same state
that it was in when the system was brand new. You will lose
any data that was on the disk. If there is data on the disk
that is not backed up someplace else and you want to
recover it, do NOT do anything to the disk. You must
decide if the cost a recovery service will charge is
worth the data that is on the disk.

Try to calm down, and explain exactly what you did.

Re: using the Recovery Discs
ok...first i took off all of my important stuff...then i put in the recovery
disc 1...it told me to restart w/ the disc still in the drive...i did...i
chose the "complete disc recovery" or something like that...it worked and
cleared everything, even the operating system...i then saw a screen with more
options....what do i do to get everything back on? --> i'm not with the
computer right now, but i will be in a couple hours...if you need any more
info...check around like 7-ish eastern standard time...sorry about all of the
....'s! lol

thanks everyone!!!!

Re: using the Recovery Discs
Are the options you see choices on which drivers and utilities to install?
If so, simply confirm those and let the reinstallation finish. Then
reinstall your apps and restore your files.

Re: using the Recovery Discs
The recovery disk should get your computer back to where is was when you
bought it.
You will have to reinstall any programs you added since you got the
computer, and copy back any data files that you saved.
How did you save your "important stuff"?

Re: using the Recovery Discs
a box comes up saying "system recovery options" it says "select an
operatoing system to repair and click next. only windows vista operating
systems are listed and can be repaired."
"if you do not see you operating system listed, click Load Drivers to load
drivers for your hard disks." THERE ARE NO OPERATING SYSTEMS LISTED AND I
CANNOT FIND ONE IN THE "LOAD DRIVERS" BUTTON!!!

uhh....wait...there is also an Next button...i pushed it and a window saying
"choose a recovery tool operating system:unknown on (unkown) local disk"
then there is a list of options...
"startup repair-automatically fix problems that are preventing windows from
stating
system restore- restore windows to an earlier point in time
windows complete pc restore- restore your entire computer from a backup
windows memory diagnostics tool- check your computer for memory hardware
errors
command prompt- open a command prompt window
and
vaio recovery center-(THIS IS WHAT I USED)launch the vaio recovery center

there are also 2 buttons: shut down and restart

****sobbs****this computer is brand new from 2-20-2008...a virus got past
the Norton 360 and i'm gonna shoot myself if it dies!!!!!!! (not really but
SERIOUS thoughts will occur)

Re: using the Recovery Discs
You apparently do not have an operating system to repair. Don't you have an
option to install the operating system, not just repair one?
