Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family Upgrade
My computer performed an automatic update Saturday night. This was deemed
"important" by the Windows Update program. It completely blew up the graphics
on my computer, a 4 month old Dell Insperion 530S running Vista Home Premium.
It turned my 19 inch monitor into a 12 inch monitor. Some web pages were
squeezed into the middle of the screen, with blank spaces on each side. Some
were spread way out. Some were all the way to the left, some all the way to
the right. Neither Word nor Excel displayed properly. Only Quicken seemed
okay, but not QuickBooks. I restored the system to the previous settings, and
fixed the problem, but automatic update did the same thing last night and I
had to restore it again.

I have disabled the automatic update feature, at least for now. I don't want
to be subjected to this every morning when I wake up! I don't know if this is
an Intel problem or a Microsoft problem, but the lack of testing on a update
like this is just inexcusable.

Re: Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family Upgrade
Make sure you don't have automatic updates set to update both mandatory and
optional updates since driver updates are usually optional. Also driver
updates are often out of date and/or not compatible with your current system
configuration. Driver updates are best obtained from the manufacturers
website.
You can also set automatic update to download but to let select which
updates to install.

Try hiding the update.

Right click on the update, and click "Hide Update".

same thing happend to me and now my graphics are horrible, some are blurry
and some are pushed over to the left side of my 17 inch screen. I am afraid
to uninstall the program for fear it'll make my computer not run. I just
want my computer to go back to the way it was before Saturday evening. If
anyone can help me, Please suggest something. Thank you

RE: Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family Upgrade
I am having the same problem. I have played with various controls, changing
text and icon size, but some internet pages are still extremely difficult to
read. Is there any way to roll back this g33/g31 express chipset family
upgrade to a previous version? my computer was working fine before this
update, and now I can barely read my email and many internet pages. I
seriously cannot read some of the tiny text and do not want to ruin my
eyesight! Please help!

Was unable to roll back the driver
I did find this suggestion after searching on the internet, but I found I did
not have the option of rolling back the driver (the window to roll back was
"grayed out"...unable to click it)

Please, help me too! I also got the update, but it has turned my screen into
the teeniest tiniest print you can imagine. I did try a system restore
(several times) but it could never be completed for some strange reason. Is
it safe to just uninstall the update?
