Under 8 pound notebooks running Vista 64.

I'm looking for high end mobile workstation that is under 8.5 pounds and
comes preconfigured with Vista 64 bit. Any suggestions?
Vista overall performace rating of 5.4 and higher would be a plus.

Hi Mike,

Yes I have. Although I thought this user group would have good hardware
experience with Vista 64.

The notebook that comes closest to my specs is Dell's M6300 workstation
(2.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 200GB 7200rpm HD, 17" 256MB Nvidia FX Quadro 1600M).
But they will NOT configure it with Vista 64.

Two weeks ago I bought a Dell D630 (2.6GHz, 4GB RAM, 120GB 7200rpm HD,
128MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M). It was configured with Vista Ultimate
32bit. I installed Vista Ultimate 64bit and it has been a full time
hellish job getting all the drivers. Over $3000 and Dell refused to
help. Still don't have a driver to control the mouse pad. By the way the
graphics rating on this machine is very poor (3.7).

That is why they do not come installed with Vista 64. They can't take
advantage of more than 4gb RAM, and the major components, CPU and Video
card, can't be top of the range because of the heat generation problem.
There simply is little point, hence Dell not supporting it..

It will probably be impossible to find something with x64
pre-installed. I'm using an Acer Ferrari 5000 with 2GB RAM on x64
Vista. It has a 4.8 rating. I've had it over a year and I'm very
happy with it.
