firewire external hard drive problem

when copying large files to a firewire external hard drive vista frezzes and
never finishes the copying. I have Windows Vista Ultimate, and the firewire
hard drive is a QPS Que! QPM3HDU280L M3 USB 2.0 80GB.

I too have this issue. To this day I have been unable to find an answer or
solution. It does not surprise me that you have not recieved an answer in
over a month as your question was probably ignored by MS.

I don't know about firewire, but the upcoming SP1 has quite a long lists of
usb fixes. You can review the list of fixes by navigating to microsoft.com
and searching on Vista SP1.
