Not sure if this is a Vista bug, a device driver bug, or just a strange
interaction problem. If I boot up Vista (Business) with my Firewire audio
device powered up (MOTU Traveler), my display monitors will never go into
standby mode after the specified inactivity period. The screensaver comes on
at the right time, but the monitors will never standby.
This also happens if the Firewire audio device is powered up during boot,
but then later powered down after boot. That is, the monitors will not go
into standby.
If I never power up the Firewire device during boot or during Vista usage,
the monitors then work properly and go into standby after 20min inactivity
period.
Note, I used this same Firewire device with WinXP and never experienced this
problem.
System details:
Core2Duo 6700, Intel motherboard, 2GB RAM, nVidia 7600 with dual DVI
