Vista does not recognize newer driver

Hi. I have just bought the DWL-G122 USB WIFI adapter from DLINK. The product
got shipped still with drivers for Windows versions up to XP. I downloaded
the new driver for Vista from the manufacturer's site, but when I click the
"update driver" button and select the new driver's folder, Vista replies me
that the current driver is already up to date. The current installed driver
is version 1.0 dated 2005, and the new driver is version 3.0 and dated 2007.
How can I force Windows Vista to update the device with my new driver?

Just to be sure, do you have the right driver? I think it's found here:

Before extracting the downloaded .zip file, right click on it and choose
Properties. Click on Unblock, then Apply, and then OK. Then extract the
files.

Using Device Manger, try this. On the Driver tab,
choose Update Driver. Then choose "Browse
my computer for driver software." Then Choose "Let me pick from a list of
device drivers on my computer." Then choose "Have Disk". Then browse all
the way to the folder containing the *.inf file.
