Re: System wont recognize DVD drive
Nothing like a "late" response... If anyone happens to read this thread,
I have had problems with Vista Home Premium not recognizing my DVD/RW
drive. I had searched the net for help by reading many forums, and I
found a successful fix!
My computer is 2 months new, dual core, 350gb h/d 3 gb RAM yadda,
yadda, yadda... a nice Gateway. Anyway, I bought and installed Print
Shop 22, searches yielded unfortunate results... They said the program
was not compatible with Vista. I decided to try anyway, at the end of
the install, the program stated that the program was incompatible with
Vista.... I continued.
The program has run fine with zero problems, BUT, after install, my
computer will not recognize my DVD/RW! I restored back to a point before
loading the Print Shop 22 software. Viola! My DVD drive is back up... I
reloaded the Print Shop 22 software and 48 hours later the DVD is not
recognized again. Okay long story, short... The fix is, open up regedit,
find...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Open it and find the line the specifies an "upper filter" and/or "lower
filter" and delete them! reboot and see what comes of it... It worked
for me and still does, good luck!
