Windows Mail changes dual-screen setup on Dell notebook

Every time I launch Windows Mail my extended desktop configuration changes.

I normally have my external, larger monitor as the primary. But I've noticed
launching some applications causes this extended desktop configuration to
change, so that the external monitor is disabled and the primary reverts to
the internal screen.

Any ideas?
