New hard drive

After only 1 yr, the hard drive crashed on my computer. After installing a
new hard (a little upgraded from previous) drive and reloading from the
resource disk, there is a problem booting up. When the computer is turned on
it goes to a DOS screen and prompts you for a F1 command to continue, at
which time it goes to Windows Vista. I've talked to several people who do
not know how to get the hard drive to boot directly to Windows Vista. Can
anyone help? sd
