How to buy the same RAM

I installed 1 GB RAM when I bought my new PC (DIY) last year.
If I going to add more RAM say another 1 GB, how do I make sure they are
'compatible'?
I will buy the same rate and make: Hynix, DDR 400.

Check the exact type of your installed RAM with a tool like AIDA or Everest
(find them via Google). Check the part number of the installed module.
And/or contact the manufacturer of your PC and ask for the *recommended* RAM
for additional installation.

I did the same this year and there was no problem with the new RAM.
However, do not expect to achieve the dual channel mode. I was told that
this only works with dedicated and selected RAM-modules. And this is not
necessarily given with modules which are produced at different times, even
if they have the same part number.

Go to www.crucial.com and use their free scanner to determine the correct
RAM.
