the hard drive wont bring up what is on my disc

If you are talking about just your hard drive,
click Start and type on the search line CMD.EXE and hit enter.
When the next window opens, type CD\ and hit enter to put you in the Root
directory,
Then type DIR and hit enter to see a listing of what is on your C: drive.
