Windows Vista SP1 Released To Small Group

As 'Mary Jo Foley forecasted' (http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=559),
a Windows Vista SP1 drop was made in mid-July. We're hearing, however,
the drop was made to a small group of random testers for "pre-beta"
testing. Pre-beta testing is usually conducted to test software that is
more mature than a first-stab, annihilate-your-machine alpha (VS2008
anyone?) but doesn't quite implement all the required functionalities to
be labeled a true beta.
The service pack comes labeled with a build string matching its
'recently released WDK brother'
(http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=580) and smells of Server 2008
kernel, which is A Good Thing™ --
*6001.16549(longhorn_sp1beta1.070628-1825). *(Thanks *C*.)
Queried Microsoft and beta participants are denying the program's
existence, as expected. We'll have to suffer with our malfunctioning
Windows Vista installs for just a tad longer.

Maybe it will be leaked sometime soon.

Forget About Windows Vista SP1 (The General Public Will Never Get Their
Hands On It Until It Is Officially Released Next Year In 2008), When
Linux Ubuntu 7.04 Is Available For Public Download Right Now, Just FYI.

P.S. I Will Not Be Renewing My MSDN Operating Systems Level Subscription
And My Microsoft Tech Net Direct Subscription Next Year Considering The
Fact That Microsoft Has Not Released It (SP1) To MSDN Subscriber's Or
Microsoft Tech Net Subscriber's, Just FYI. From Now On It's Linux Ubuntu
7.04 All The Way, Just FYI.

Linux Unbutu 7.04 Is The Best Operating System Available Right Now, Just
FYI. Windows Vista SP1 Will Just Be The Same Old Vista As RTM Is
Currently Right Now (Vista Should Be Renamed Windows ME 2.0), Just FYI.

P.P.S. As Usual The Main Mistake Microsoft Always Makes Is That They
Rely On Such A Small Group Of Beta Tester's To Test Their Operating
Systems And As A Result Most Security Holes And Bugs Go Undiscovered
During The Beta Testing Process Period, Just FYI. If Microsoft Were
Serious About Improving Their Windows Vista Operating System, They Would
Release SP1 Beta And The Bug Reporting Process To The General Public,
Just FYI.

No, Unbuttoned *was* the best Linux available, Just YFI. PCLinuxOS has
stolen that crown, Just YFI. Unbuttoned is *so* last year, Just YFI.

Two Beta patchs (KB938194 and KB938979) titled "Vista compatibility and
reliability patch" have been released (leaked?). They contain a number
of Vista fixes. There is a 32 bit and 64 bit version. There are a number
of reviews available and download link on guru3d.com if you want to
check it out. I'm waiting for more input or the official release.
